As part of the Swachh Bharat initiative as well as the nationwide campaign to ban single-use plastic, Jalandhar Smart City has installed 18 plastic bottle crushing machines at major footfall locations across the city.
These locations include Model Town Near KFC, Adarsh Nagar Market, GTB Nagar Market, Jawahar Nagar Market, DC complex, Nikku Park Near Canteen, Pratap Bagh, MCJ Campus, Devi Tallab Mandir, Bus stand, Civil Hospital, HMV Collage, DAV College, DAV Ayurvedic College, DAVIET College, and KMV College.

Features and Components
The machine can crush 2,000 PET bottles ranging from 200 ml-2.5 litres in size in one day. The machine has an internal storage bin of approximately 20 kg, equivalent to 1500 bottles. To encourage people towards keep city neat & clean, in return of putting a bottle in this machine, a discount ( up to 20%) reward coupon in the form of a paper receipt as well as message will also come in the mobile and this coupon can be redeemed as per given options. This machine will continue to convey the message of keeping the city clean through its TV display.

- This will help to keep the city free from plastic pollution and the problem of drain and sewage choking due to plastic bottle getting stuck will resolve to some extent.
