Urban green spaces such as parks, playground, gardens, and woodlands are critical to quality urban living. By having sufficient green spaces in urban areas, green spaces with plants are absorb gaseous pollutants and release oxygen into the atmosphere. The presence of green spaces can enhance the health and wellbeing of people living and working in cities. Open space should also be given due importance similar to other basic land use like residential, commercial, industrial, transportation etc.
To make cities more attractive and comfortable to live in, the Smart City Mission Jalandhar has given the importance to develop the public / community open area as a green space / park. In order to preserving and developing open space as parks, playground and recreation spaces for citizen of Jalandhar. Jalandhar Smart city Limited has successfully completed the work of green area development in phased manner under its smart city mission.
