To commemorate the 75th year of India’s Independence, Smart Cities Mission had planned numerous events across 100 Smart Cities 2021 as part of the celebrations called Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) with the values of ‘health, safety and self-empowerment for all’.
In support of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Jalandhar Smart city organized various events from September 26, 2021 to 3 October, 2021. To reimagine streets as safer, healthier and happier spaces without vehicular traffic, Jalandhar Smart city organized Cyclothon on 3RD October, 2021 at Municipal Corporation Jalandhar.
The event was a huge success with participation of around 300 people. The rally started from Municipal Corporation Jalandhar, covering various chowks of the city and ended at the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar. The event started with a warm up session by Parindey, a fitness and dance academy.
All the participants were awarded certificates, medals, T-shirts and refreshment. All the cycling clubs of the city were awarded trophies by CEO Jalandhar Smart city Cum Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jalandhar, Karnesh Sharma. The senior most cyclist of the city Baljeet Mahajan was also awarded.
